All that is needed is to run the add-in, select the linked project and choose the view which view templates to transfer. This is easily achieved with this free add-in ‘Transfer Template’. View Templates are just another system family and sometimes on larger coordinated projects there is a need to selectively transfer view templates from one model to the next. The only viable option is to transfer ALL the view templates across and then purge out the templates that are not required, meaning duplication of effort and wasted time.

It is assumed that the reader of this guide understands the basics of Revit and what is typically included within a Revit Template. Revit 2020 and earlier versions: Revit content (templates and families). In particular, the templates implement many of the Data Submittal requirements. Revit families are amazing libraries of fully functional (BIM) templates & 3D. Imagine trying to apply a single change to multiple view templates across multiple project templates, it's quite tedious. You cannot pick and choose which system families to transfer. The GSA Templates are standard Revit Templates with GSA Standards applied. The new template for the latest release of Revit is not created until it is required as we are relatively new to Revit and actively updating standards. However, it is a bit limited as the file you wish to copy from also needs to be opened in Revit and when transferring system families it’s an all or nothing concept. The venerable transfer project standards command is an out of the box method to transfer system families from one project to another.
